Paul Anders took a crack at some HDR photography, but instead of using Photomatix, or HDR Effects software, he put the HDR photo together himself using the free Gimp image editing software (http://gimp.org)

One of Paul’s comments on his photo is that he has not been very pleased with the results he gets from the traditional HDR software options, and I tend to agree with him.
The results are often very cookie cutter, and as Paul found using Gimp, when I do shoot HDR, I typically get better results when putting the image together myself in Photoshop than when using the pre packaged HDR software.
Outside of the great HDR work that Paul did, he’s got a fantastically composed still life photo of flowers.
