Bill Vennard has EXACTLY the right attitude when it comes to growing and excelling in photography! Bill writes this of the photo he submitted this week:

“picture of a woman on a bed, taken for a portfolio im putting together of university.

im using my nikon D90, i hope you critique my picture as i am always learning and in my opinion the only way to improve is for people to point out where you went wrong.”

This is exactly why I do these critiques, but I want to point something out. “Wrong” is an arbitrary thing when it comes to photography, so it’s not what Bill did “wrong”, but what could Bill have done differently to make the image look the way he wanted it to look.

Here’s Bill’s photo:

011-2

ISO 800, f4.8, 1/80. Nikon D90

I discuss this in depth in today’s critique, pointing out things that Bill could have done differently to help him realize the vision he had of the photo.
