Shooting ultra wide/fisheye angles can be really challenging, especially because the novelty of the ultra wide/fisheye look can often overpower the shot itself.
Well David didn’t have that problem! He submitted a photo of the cast of a stage play for this week’s critique.
David shot this with a Canon T5i at a 10mm focal length. His settings were ISO 640, f5 and 1/30
David lit the shot with the stage lighting, and edited and exported to jpg using Photoshop CS6.
What I love about David’s photo is the arrangement of the cast members and how their placement throughout the scene indicates their role in the play itself. The use of the ultra wide 10mm focal length really helped him achieve this, however there are some issues worth looking out for when you shoot ultra wide.
Of particular note is the edge distortion you get, and the loss of lighting at the edges. Check out the video for the full critique!
